NC suspect opens fire at police, falls 25 feet trying to run away

GASTONIA, N.C. — A suspect who fired on officers outside of a mall was injured after falling 25 feet during a foot pursuit, WNCN reported.

Officers responded to the mall Jan. 25 when an owner of a stolen vehicle saw their car in the mall parking lot. Officers located the suspect, 19-year-old Jamoral Lee Hill, and a foot pursuit began.

Hill ran outside and fired at officers. Officers did not fire back but continued the pursuit. The suspect then ran toward a retaining wall, jumped over and fell 25 feet, injuring himself on the ground.

Hill was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and resist, delay and obstruct.
