NEW YORK — Four New York Police Department patrol vehicles were involved in a collision Sunday, ABC7 reported.

The officers in the department’s new Strategic Response Group (SRG) tactical unit had been travelling in a convoy, when a car in front of the line of cruisers slowed down.

The first patrol vehicle in the convoy rear-ended the civilian’s vehicle causing a chain-reaction that included another civilian vehicle.

Three officers were hospitalized, and one driver suffered minor injuries.

The highway was shut down while officers were freed from their cruisers.

The SRG responds to major accidents and terrorist attacks.
