SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A police pursuit in Missouri last month took an unexpected turn when the suspect drove across a golf course to try to get away from deputies. The 18-year-old suspect is now facing a slew of vehicle and property-related charges.
According to KOZL, the encounter began when deputies attempted to stop a Jeep Wrangler with no license plates. The suspect, later identified as Devin Salle, took off. Deputies initiated a pursuit but stopped after they successfully activated a StarChase tracking device, KOZL said.
At some point Salle took the vehicle off-road, driving onto a golf course to avoid deputies. Investigators told KOZL that Salle drove close to several people playing golf. Video of the incident shows the Jeep barreling across a golfing green, passing by golf carts and golfers.
Salle was eventually stopped and taken into custody, according to KOZL. He’s now facing charges of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, second-degree property damage, resisting a lawful stop and driving without a license.
