MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Newly released dashcam footage shows a high-speed pursuit involving a man who drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 while fleeing from Florida Highway Patrol troopers, NBC Miami reported.
The Oct. 1 incident began when a trooper spotted a white Honda driving northbound on the shoulder of I-95 near Northwest 151st Street in a reckless manner, according to an arrest report.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped off, weaving through traffic before entering a construction zone, video obtained by NBC 6 shows. The trooper continued to pursue the man through the construction zone until the suspect stopped near an apparently steep ledge.
The trooper rammed the suspect, but the suspect was able to maneuver out of the way and speed back through the construction site. The suspect drove back out onto the highway, now driving the wrong direction on the shoulder.
The trooper had faced difficulty in maneuvering his cruiser away from the ledge, causing him to fall behind the suspect. Despite losing sight of the vehicle, the trooper was able to spot it again, now moving through traffic in the correct direction.
The trooper continued to pursue the suspect, eventually following him back into the construction site. After hitting a bump, the suspect vehicle can be seen going airborne before landing hard and continuing to flee. The suspect can be seen turning around again before eventually coming to a stop.
He stepped out of the vehicle with hands raised. The trooper is heard ordering the suspect to the ground at gunpoint.
“I didn’t want to get caught,” the suspect can be heard saying as the trooper takes him into custody.
When questioned, the suspect told the trooper he fled because he did not have insurance.
“That’s just a ticket,” the trooper responded. “Now look what you did — you know how many people’s lives you put at risk?”
The suspect faces charges of fleeing and eluding at high speed and reckless driving with property damage, according to Miami-Dade jail records.
