Mo. trooper seriously injured after pickup crosses center line, hits cruiser head-on

A pickup truck veered across the centerline and crashed into Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Colin Osborne’s cruiser; a passenger in the pickup died in the crash

GREEN CITY, Mo. — A fatal head-on crash east of Green City has left a Milan woman dead and a Missouri state trooper and five others injured, KTVO reported.

The collision occurred on Jan. 5 on Highway 6, about 1.5 miles east of Green City, when a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Milan man crossed the center line and struck a patrol car head-on, according to the report.

The trooper, identified as Colin Osborne, 28, was initially taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center and later transferred to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. As of Jan. 6, Osborne was listed in fair condition, a hospital spokesperson confirmed.

Osborne, who typically patrols Adair County, was covering Sullivan County at the time of the crash, according to MSHP Sgt. Justin Dunn.

A 62-year-old woman from Milan, a passenger in the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report. Her identity has not yet been released by authorities.

Five other occupants in the pickup, all Milan residents, suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious.
