Video: Stop sticks end pursuit after woman strikes Ohio cruiser, flees traffic stop

Sharonville PD deployed multiple sets of stop sticks across the interstate, eventually deflating a front tire of the suspect’s vehicle

SHARONVILLE, Ohio — A traffic stop turned into a pursuit, ending only after officers deployed stop sticks to disable the fleeing suspect’s vehicle on an interstate.

Sharonville Police Department officers attempted to stop the suspect, identified as a 54-year-old woman, just after 5:30 p.m. on May 17 for a suspected fictitious license plate, WCPO reports.

During the stop, the woman allegedly struck the front of a cruiser and sped away, prompting a pursuit that covered surface streets before entering I-275, according to WLWT.

Speeds during the pursuit reached 80 mph, and more than a dozen patrol vehicles joined the pursuit, according to WCPO. Officers deployed multiple sets of stop sticks across the interstate, eventually deflating the front left tire of the suspect’s vehicle.

After the vehicle was stopped, police say the suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. No injuries were reported.

The woman faces multiple charges, including failure to comply with a police officer, attempted assault on a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension and using a fictitious license plate, WCPO reports. She also had an active warrant out of Butler County. Her bond totals over $300,000.
